How can I keep Internet Explorer’s header and footer from printing on forms such as the SBA 641?

By default, Microsoft Internet Explorer inserts header and footer data into all pages that you print from the Web. This header and footer data typically consists of the site’s title and URL, the current date, and page numbers. While this data can be helpful when printing Web sites for content, WebCATS users often consider it a nuisance when printing forms or reports from WebCATS.

If you’d like to eliminate the header and footer data that prints on your WebCATS’ forms and reports, you can do so from within Internet Explorer’s settings, as described in the next set of steps.

Note: These new settings will apply to all documents printed from the Web, not just those printed from WebCATS. For this reason, you may want to record the default header and footer codes before deleting them so that you can restore them later, if desired.

  1. From Internet Explorer, select File|Page Setup (version 6) or click the printer icon and select “Page Setup” (version 7). This opens the Page Setup window, as shown in the next graphic.

  2. Record the codes that are currently in the Header and Footer fields so that you may restore them later, if desired.
  3. Delete all codes from the Header and Footer fields.
  4. Note: If your reports are being incorrectly formatted during printing, you can also change Internet Explorer’s margin settings from this window, as discussed here.

  5. Click OK.
