How can I generate the FPDS Awards Report for all contracts won by vendors in my state?
- Go to https://www.fpds.gov.
- Enter your username and password, or create one if you don't yet have one.
- Once logged in, click the Standard Reports button, as shown next.
- You are presented with a variety of different standard reports. To generate a report for all awards won in your state, click the Where button, as shown next.
- Two report options will appear. Select "Geographic Report by Vendor Location." This report will provide you with all the awards won by clients in a specific geographic region such as your state.
- Next you will be asked for the date range of your report and the specific geographic region that you are interested in. For purposes of this example, we will be generating a report starting in the first quarter of 2007 through the fourth quarter of 2007, for the state of Oregon, as shown next.
- The following screen will tell you approximately how long the report will take to generate. (OutreachSystems has found the estimated time to be quite wrong. If the report says that it will require two minutes to generate, then you should allow at least six minutes for it to complete, although this may depend upon the load on the system at the time that the report is generated.)
- The first report that you receive will tell you exactly how many dollars were won by contractors in your particular state without providing individual detail on a per-contractor basis. To see the detail for each contractor, you will want to right-click on the word “Total” in the lower left hand corner of the report, as shown next.
- Again, the report will take several minutes to generate. The final result will provide you with all the names of all the contractors located in your state along with the awards won by them, as shown next.

Note: The arrows at the top of the columns can be used to sort the report using the criterion you desire. The left/right arrows can be used to make certain columns disappear.
Clearly, the reporting module provided by the FPDS system will be able to generate many more reports beyond the one highlighted here. We encourage you to play with the system and get familiar with all the reports available. Also, keep in mind that the data is updated daily. Thus, a report generated today may contain different data from a report generated tomorrow. You can visit the site as often as you want and generate the report at your convenience.
